For anyone who did not see the message from Venita on the FDMB last Friday, Jean has been found to have cancer that has spread to her brain and bones. She has been found to have many brain tumors. She went into hospice care last Thursday.
I live fairly close to Jean and have met her in the past. have spoken with Jean several times this week and plan to visit her at the hospice. She seems to be in generally good spirits and realizes she does not know how much time she has. She is not able to use a computer because she can't use the keyboard. She was last online approximately a month ago.
If you posted at the FDMB after Venita printed messages to take to Jean on Saturday, unfortunately, I was relying on the FDMB to be working and was going to bring a laptop computer for Jean to see her messages and FDMB PMs if she wanted to, but until the FDMB is back up, that is not possible. So, if you wish, please post them here.
Jean has been surrounded by her family and close friends while in hospice care. Today, she evidently had a very active day and played the accordion, so by the time I called to see if she was up for a visit, she was sound asleep. The people at the hospice seem very kind and caring. Jean is eating well, which I think is a good sign.
If you have corresponded via mail with Jean in the past and would like to send her a card, the family has said to send it to Jean's address and family will take it to her at the hospice. They request no flowers, because Jean is allergic. Jean said she can read. She has trouble writing. She appreciates the love and concern expressed by those on the FDMB.
Her three cats are currenlly being cared for by her family at her home.
If messages to Jean are posted here, I will let her know and try to convey them to her when I visit.
